stage osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), the factors normally considered are the progression of the disease and the patient’s age. Although most clinicians agree that the focus, when first treating patients under 50 years of age, should be on preserving the joint, there is significant controversy as to the appropriate procedure in any given case. Core decompression is one of the joint salvage surgical procedures that has generated a great deal of controversy among researchers, who dispute both its effectiveness and the incidence of complications. Despite this controversy, core decompression is the most widely used method, based on its being a relatively simple surgical techniques and the widespread acceptance of its efficacy in treating diseases in the earlier stages. A transtrochanteric rotational osteotomy, which is also called the Sugioka Operation owing to its introduction by Sugioka et al. in 1978, is widely recog-

Comparison of Total Hip Arthroplasty and Core Decompression in Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head after Taking Temgesic and Norgesic
Background: Osteonecrosis is common after taking Temgesic and Norgesic. This study intended to suggest the preferable surgical treatment in osteonecrosis patients who use these drugs. Methods: Twenty tree patients with hip osteonecrosis who were hospitalized in the Kerman hospitals after using Temgesic and Norgesic were followed for about 14 months from 2008 to 2010 (from a minimum of 2 months ...
متن کاملTreatment of Femoral Head Osteonecrosis (Stages 2B, 3 Ficat) Through Open Direct Core Decompression by Allograft Impaction and Light Bulb Technique
Background: Femoral head avascular necrosis is the cause of paralyzing status of youth population. Initial diagnosisis the main element in treating the disease. Bone grafting and core decompression are the approved cures at the earlysteps of the disease. Hip replacement in a total manner is the common cure in the final stages. The optimal treatment inthe intermediate stages is...
متن کاملPrediction of the outcome of transtrochanteric rotational osteotomy for osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
We have studied the correlation between the prevention of progressive collapse and the ratio of the intact articular surface of the femoral head, after transtrochanteric rotational osteotomy for osteonecrosis. We used probit analysis on 125 hips in order to assess the ratio necessary to prevent progressive radiological collapse over a ten-year period. The results show that a minimum postoperati...
متن کاملPedicle bone grafting versus transtrochanteric rotational osteotomy for idiopathic osteonecrosis of the femoral head--four patients with both procedures.
The clinical and radiographic results of vascularized pedicle iliac bone grafting (PBG) and Sugioka's transtrochanteric anterior rotational osteotomy of the femoral head (ARO) for idiopathic osteonecrosis of the femoral head were compared. Four male patients with bilateral osteonecrosis of the femoral head were treated with PBG in the first hip and with ARO in the second. All patients had stage...
متن کاملComparison of Surgical Parameters and Results between Curved Varus Osteotomy and Rotational Osteotomy for Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head
BACKGROUND Various osteotomies have been introduced to treat osteonecrosis of the femoral head. The purpose of this study was to compare surgical parameters, postoperative limb length discrepancy, and minimum 5-year clinical and radiological results between transtrochanteric curved varus osteotomy (TCVO) and transtrochanteric rotational osteotomy (TRO) for osteonecrosis of the femoral head. M...
